Snapshots of Labor Day Camping

Here is our exit shot from civilization. Maelee was ultra pumped about her new boots so I had to not only wear mine but also role up my pants - because even though I thought it was lame when I worked at the fabric store and rolled my eyes at the mom & me matching patterns - it pretty much rocks to wear matching outfits with Maelee now. I love love love it. We did get wood this year. Because there is nothing quite like going into the forest and cutting down trees as a family. Sincerely, it is always a really neat thing to do together. I am thankful to have married into a family of multiple generations of wood getters. Here is the "riding in the back of Papa's pick up with Nana" picture. It put Charles right to sleep. That's a safe place to sleep right? In the back of a truck on a bumpy mountain road, right? Here is Chuck's contribution to the truck bed full of wood (nothing compared to filling the horse trailer multiple times with trips to town to drop it off, but it was still a good little bunch of wood)

Maelee really got into it this year and was in the "three piece club" with Mantha and Ty. Work it girl, work it.

Here is our little family in our Labor Day 2010 shirts designed by Frank.

Group shot.

Ah yes this is the top of the elephant trail. We walked this little hill 3 roundtrips throughout the weekend. I even carried Chuck up and back once. We tricked Nana into going with us the last time. We found all kinds of wild animals on these three hikes. Elephants, zebras, squirrels, dolphins, and dinosaurs. Totally awesome, totally fun.

Out of order, here is Nana and Papa with the kids. Yes she does have her hair in tiny ponytails and yes she did it two days in a row. Why? Because Polly is Awesome with a capital A. A clever tradition started by Jami some years back.

Two words, face cupping. Its one of my favorite things to do.

P&R aka Nana & Papa in the flesh.

Oh after the face cupping we did this. It was Brandies idea.

This was one of my favorite things that happened all weekend. Taking a nap with Charles in the hammock. Good times.

These next two pictures are definitely going in Frank's funeral slide show. Here he is on the old chain saw really tearing it up. Nice work husband.

This one he was really thrilled to take. When we started making our newspaper hats he requested one that looked like a shark was eating his head. While I didn't have the resources, time, or ability to do that for him camping he did get a sweet ball cap. He wore it well don't you think?

Here are the rest of us chickens with our hats on. Brandie won for style, Jami won for flare, mine won for being the only cowgirl hat, and Polly won for the most pom-pom's.

We took entirely too many pictures to post on the blog and enjoyed other activities included (but not limited too); making and flipping giant Mexican french toast, earning names such as Captain Genius & Whine Bag, dog fights, puking (not my kids this time poor Mike), puppet shows, bee bites, making puppets, dancing club houses, duck duck goose, devotionals, morning mallow roasts, etc. One jam packed campingrific weekend.

We have a lot of fun, but the Cluff Family might just be a little jealous about these camping adventures you have. Those hats you made are fantastic and Frank holding the chainsaw is a sight to behold.
