This is the before and after shot of Frank when he found out he, his brother, b-i-l, and Dad got drawn for hunting this year (I knew that picture I made him re-take because he looked ticked would pay off on a blog post).
To be an honest woman, I was extremely jealous of his hunting trip. By no means because he got to hunt but because of the little mini escape from the day to day (and being somewhere exciting and relaxing to him). Luckily for Frank, Charles his very smart little son slept through the night (for the first time in his life) all 4 nights Frank was gone to help ease any disgruntledness caused by the males in the family.
Besides an awesome 5 month old strutting his stuff by sleeping through the night for 4 days straight for his mom (don't worry he hasn't really done it since) I also had a great time with my girlfriends! Michaels and JoAnn's have advertised ribbon trees in their adds. Ribbon is not plentiful in my supplies, but paper is so with a cereal box base (HOORAY for another way to use a cereal box) and some magical cutting and taping we made some gorgeous holiday decorations. Please enjoy the next several pictures of our craft. It also didn't hurt to have a kitchen full of chocolate and babies sleeping soundly.
Jealous as I was I am happy that Frank got to sleep in his swag, have pop tarts for breakfast, hang out with the Adams/Bushman men, have skunks and cats raid their camp, and come home excited from his hunting adventures. He loves to be camping and away from civilization so to speak.
For my enjoyment I will know record what my perfect mini escape would be:
A giant room filled with lots of empty tables for me to make messes on. Several paper stacks, gobbs of felt, pre threaded sewing machines, sharp scissors, glue guns on the ready, a big TV tuned into an old school Martha Stewart marathon (pre prison Martha, not the new Martha Stewart who only talks about politics and exercising).

I love those trees. So cute, are they just paper, cereal boxes and tape?? I am thinking I might have to try my hand at creating one.
