Ending up a Year of Blessings (49 - 52)

To complete my 2008 weekly blessing posts in a not so week at a time fashion....here are 49 - 52 so that I can start on 2009.

Blessing 49 {French Bread}

A favorite of mine from the old 9th Ward Cook Book (a complete staple in my weekly cooking/baking, and the source of my biscuit, roll, cinnamon roll, pizza dough, etc recipe's) is Easy French Bread. In fact its so easy that first of all even I can do it, and second of all Maelee can even be on the counter helping while I do it. We make it at least once if not twice a week at our house because again its so EASY.

Easy French Bread

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon butter OR margarine

1 tablespoon yeast

1 cup very warm water

I mix mine in my half loaf bread maker for 5 minutes, then take it out shape/roll it into a long loaf shape on a large cookie sheet, spray it with cooking spray before it goes in and right as soon as it comes out of a 425 degree oven for 15 minutes. It is also fabulous if taken and rolled into a flat rectangle (like you do cinnamon rolls) and spread with butter mixed with rosemary and garlic salt and then rolled up and baked at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.

Blessing 50 {Dad's Day to Dress}

On Sunday's since I am usually scurrying around doing things for church or trying to look nice myself Frank has taken charge of getting Maelee dressed. He sometimes pretends that he doesn't know how to put on tights, but once we get past that obstacle or I convince him he has done it several times in the past and its just like putting on pants our Maelee girl is ready for church. It always helps me have a little more time to get ready and I like listening to their conversation while he gets her clothes on, especially when its time to put on the tights.
Blessing 51 {Adams' FHE Night}

Thanks to the suggestion of our genius of a bil Rick B. the Adams' family brothers and sister who live in Mesa have started getting together once a month for an extended family - family home evening. Since there are 3 families we take turns switching who provides the house and the meal, dessert, and the lesson. We have had lots of fun so far playing compliment bowling, having object lessons, and making glitter star ornaments and reading about the Nephite Christmas. I look forward to more fun nights together and getting my side of the family into the habit of getting together once a month for FHE.

Week 52 {Winter Break}

The blessing for the last week in 2008 has got to be winter break from school. Since Frank is in school again at FSU, and my mom and sister are both teachers its been nice to be able to have a break from the grind for all of them. Maelee has thoroughly enjoyed every extra moment with her Daddy and BB and I have as well.
