Blessing #14 {Dad's Birthday}

(Scene) Maelee wakes up, Mom goes in to say goodmorning.

Mom: Maelee good morning! Do you remember what today is?

Maelee: DAD'S BIRTHDAY! CANDLES!

We got to celebrate one more year with our favorite guy and it was definitely the blessing for the week. He work's hard for our family and is so patient with us. He understands when it takes us 4 false starts to get to the car to leave because Maelee is making sure she has everything she needs (Snuffy, a magazine, a purse full of trinkets, a snack) because he knows she has learned from watching me do that same thing. He is proud to be Maelee's Daddy and loves to talk to me about how smart she is and how much she is growing up. He is proud of his "from the mountain" heritage and anyone who is under the false impression that he is shy should walk past him in a t-shirt with any White Mountain town or high school displayed on it and see my "shy" husband spring into visiting action. Maelee knows that after nap time it is appropriate to start watching out the window for Dad to come home because she is so excited to see him each day. 28 years on earth total, 6 married, almost 2 as a Dad, 19 and counting as a student. Here's to you Dad's birthday may we get to celebrate decades more of you.
