Save the Forks

Maelee and Frank had been through the roof excited for our Labor Day camping weekend. Maelee talked about camping everyday and would verbally go over the list of every person who would be there several times a day. The day finally arrived to drive to the campsite. We fed the kids diner and bathed my beauties one last time before we left for a night drive. Maelee practically grinned ear to ear for the entire ride. But her expression quickly turned to this......as soon as she stepped foot on camping ground she panicked and said "lets go home and find a potty Mom." However good that sounded to me I knew it wasn't to be until Sunday (we arrived on Thursday night). Besides the potty issue (the bright side being we did learn that as far as success at quick drying panties in a camp site it actually works better to use a dutch oven as opposed to roasting them over a fire with a stick due to the singe factor), we all really did have a fabulous time (even me). So here are some note worthy camping pictures.

(Going for an attempted potty walk with Maelee. Me "you know Maelee campers go potty in the woods that's just what they do," Maelee "Lets go change my pants mom.") (The cousins in the "toy tent" all enjoying each other tremendously)

(Group shot, minus two sleeping babies, in our "save the forks" shirts)(Me beating Frank's pants off in a shooting contest. As Polly says she has two "crack shot" daughter in law's)
(Maelee completely unaware or effected by the shooting and just basically posing for a picture and begging to get back into the truck bed and play with Dalton)
(Charles in his favorite camping bonus - more time in the sling. He loves that thing and it came in handy tons while we were camping!)(Charlie and Nana)

(Maelee acting crazy in the truck bed with Dalton)

(Although all of his Aunts and his Nana & Papa loved on Charles this weekend, Aunt Brandie truly had the magic touch - putting him to sleep at least 4 times)

(Do I really need to say anything about how sweet this picture is?)(This picture of cousin Samantah and Maelee made all the driving with kids, nursing in the car, and pantie washing worth it) (Here is a closer look at Charlies favorite place to nap while camping)(Here is the best shot of the camping shirts that I took. A youth 6-8 was the smallest size shirt so Charlie will grow into this one)We got home on Sunday afternoon. Maelee literally went and said "Hello potty" and was beside herself to be back home to flushing heaven. Here's to you Save The Forks Adams Family Labor Day 2009!

All kidding aside it was a very fun and special weekend. I got to hold Maelee in my arms for a good two hours while she slept one night talking by the fire with all the adults, Charles was a tremendous little first time camper, and its always fun to see how happy Frank is camping with his family.

That was one of the cutest blogs ever. All of Maelee's comments were hysterical. You are a trooper for surviving. Hooray for potties!

I can't tell you how much I envy/love the fact that you all go camping so much together.
