Frank's parents have taken their kids out to Green's Peak to cut wood every summer for always, just like their parents took them to cut wood every summer for always and so on. Frank has lots of fond memories of doing it as a kid and looks forward to it every year on Labor Day Weekend. This was the first year Maelee got to go so he was even more excited to go and let her play in the words and to get his hands on the chain saw and axe. In the past 5 years I haven't EVER been able to actually split the wood (because I'm a wimp and end up hurting myself when I try) but Maelee's Nana is an amazing splitter and her uncles, Dad, and Papa all work hard to get it cut and split. All the daughters and daughter in laws watch the babies and help when they aren't pulling a bug, rock, stick, or handful of dirt out of some kids mouth. The kids like yelling "timber" when Papa falls the trees and also thoroughly enjoy playing in the horse trailer that the wood gets stacked in. The wood cutting only took about 3 hours this year so the rest of our Friday to Sunday was spent camping it up in the rain.
{Frank using the chain saw. It isn't as fun as splitting the wood so no one wanted to do it. Frank and Roy did great though and got the job done}
{Maelee and me in the middle of the wood cutting action}
{Caught some pictures around camp when it wasn't raining}
{Don't worry this tree was already cut and on the ground when Frank was forced to carve our initials into it}
{Here is a short video of the wood cutting. I was holding Maelee while I shot it so its a little questionable, but you'll get the idea}
{Nothing like a good camp dog. Megan's Molly dog filled that roll for us this year}
I'm admittidley an unenthusiastic camper with having a kid, but I tried to have fun and keep a positive attitude throughout the cons of camping. Luckily their were more pro's and Maelee and Frank had an awesome time. Plus it always cheers me up to burn trash. Spending time in the woods with the whole Adam's family was lots of fun and even though the almost constant rain had us on ALL edge it was a very memorable weekend. Thanks Nana and Papa for once again making camping way easier and more fun because of all the stuff you haul up and back for us!

I have always admired Roy and Polly for teaching their children to work together what great memories. Love the picture of Polly spilting wood she does it better than most men. What a fun weekend.
I am so jealous! We would have much rather been up camping with you guys and splitting wood than being here in Ghetto Cincinatti having surgery. I just love that you guys go camping all the time. You guys are so much fun to camp with, can't wait to do it again!
